The Mage's Association is fairly unique in that they have several standalone systems which are completely unrelated when it comes to ranking the individuals within their organization. Most people outside of the association will recognize this first category far more readily. This system is generally known as "Titles." A title indicates the role that one serves within the Mage's Association. The meaning of titles has undergone some significant changes with the advent of the Infinite Grail War.
- Director - The Absolute Ruler of the Clock Tower. Little is known about the current Director beyond that his word is generally considered to be law. The Director does have an Assistant Director below him, but even less is known about him. Rumor has it the Director has been alive for millennia.
- Monarchs - These are the heads of the families that control major political power within the Clock Tower. Technically, this is not actually a formal rank. This is merely how these people are referred to by the members of the Clock Tower. Even the general public had heard of most of the Monarchs. These individuals wield tremendous political influence and wealth, with or without their typically enormous magical power.
- Wizard Marshall - These are the military leaders within the Mage's Association. Typically they represent the strongest of the strong, and this an incredibly rare title. A Wizard Marshall is the ultimate weapon of the Mage's Association and should be expected to hold their own against even the most famous and powerful servants.
- Lords - Lords are the highest ranked individual within one of the individual departments in the Mage's Association. These can be thought of akin to the Chair of a Department at a traditional college. With very few exceptions, the Lords are considered to be the strongest magi that exist within their department in terms of raw military might. Formerly these titles were a reflection of prestige and your family name, but they are now held by the strongest magi that exist within each department. This reflects the shift towards war. Lords are generally expected to be able to best a lesser known Servant in one on one combat.
- Professors - Those below the lords but accomplished enough to be considered strong enough to fight a Servant alone without dying are known as Professors. When not busy on the front lines, Professors are responsible for training up those below them. They can currently best be through of as Boot Camp instructors for the students at the Clock Tower as well as squadron leaders on the battlefield.
- Soldiers - If you've completed enough training to not be a liability on the battlefield then congratulations, you're now a soldier. These are the rank and file of the Clock Tower with no real distinguishing rank. This rank was brought about as the result of the war to differentiate between those who should be deployed to the battlefield and those who were more likely to get themselves killed for no benefit.
- Students - Whether you are new to magecraft, lack talent, lack distinction, or simply practice magecraft that is not suitable for battle, then this is where you likely find yourself. Most everyone started as a student, but some are there for the foreseeable future.
