[attr="class","paracontentfull"]Dani can best be described as a badass. Her appearance as a whole sends an overwhelmingly strong message that she is here to get a job done and not have a casual chat about the weather. She holds herself upright at all times with a confidence that shows she is ready for any situation. Without her even uttering a word you can tell that she is experienced enough as a Magus to have seen all sorts of conflict and have come out the other side of it unscathed. Her presence gives the feeling that no matter what problem you present to her, she's got a spell for that.
Her aura aside, there are some noteworthy features of her actual body. As a whole she is neither overly lean nor plump. She keeps herself in good enough shape, but isn't fitness obsessed. She may sport some noticeable makeup now and again, but most often it's only enough that the average man would think she isn't wearing any. They are wrong of course, because men really can't tell the difference between a "natural" makeup look and no makeup at all most of the time.
One of the most memorable features about Dani is probably her hair. She keeps it rather short, yes, but it's also virtually never its natural chocolate brown. While Dani may not spend a ton of money on makeup, she does spend quite a bit on hair dye. Most often it is a pearlescent purple that seems to change from a moderate shade in the sunlight to nearly black in the shadows. That is just the most common of course, with deep blues being the second most common color of dye for her to use.
The only other feature that's especially worth remembering about Dani is her eyes. Like her hair these seem to be an unnatural hue that shifts from time to time. Though most of her appearance assists her professional demeanor, her eyes tend to betray her. At rest and when at ease her eyes are an invitingly vibrant lilac, but they seem to change with her mood and energy levels. As Dani grows more weary throughout a long operation her eyes do not merely seem to be duller and perhaps even droopy like others on her team. Her eyes literally grow darker as she gets more exhausted. More specifically, as her mana drains away so to does the color of her eyes until they approach blackness with no mana left in her tanks.
[attr="class","subheaderbgfull"] [attr="class","subheader"]//Personality |
[attr="class","paracontentfull"]If one were forced to describe Dani as a person in only two words they would probably choose playful professional. What people would normally consider to be two different sides of the same coin tend to both be always on for her. She takes her assignments incredibly seriously, but has no problem talking smack or throwing around some playful banter while doing so. She isn't condescending or an asshole, but neither is she a jokester or the class clown. Her playful side is the result of her being incredibly confident in herself and thus not being used to the idea that success isn't assured.
This is a result of Dani mostly having rejected the world of magic, but not magic itself. Dani still follows the law of secrecy surrounding the use of magic, if only to avoid being hunted down by other magi. That said, she has long since learned how to get away with using magic in plain sight and having people think little of it, or simply not remember it. This incredibly unfair advantage allows her to be so confident in ways that normal people simply cannot be. Get shot? Yeah, that sucks, but that's what a cure spell is for. Can't crack a case? Break out some divination. Easy.
Even with her self-assured nature she is still a respectable professional. Dani is the type of person that you give an assignment to and know it will be done. She is reliable. Dependable. Motivated. If you ask her for a report on something then you'll get a proofread document printed out on paper that's a little bit nicer than it needed to be. The 32 pound paper is worth the extra expense in her eyes.
When she's off the clock her playful side tends to come out more. She's not really a flirt or anything though, so don't get that idea. Dani is more focused on her career than anything as frivolous and naive as true love. Instead she is the kind that usually finds herself surrounded by friends and coworkers rather than suitors. She's got a decent sense of humor but is neither the "funny one" nor the "popular one" in her circles. What she does have is a knack for inviting herself into whatever group of people she wants to. Her best social characteristic is probably an ability to read a room and know what to say to have a new group of friends within minutes.
[attr="class","subheaderbghalf"] [attr="class","subheader"]//Likes | [attr="class","subheaderbghalf"] [attr="class","subheader"]//Dislikes | [attr="class","paracontenthalfnoborder"] ✔️ Her job - Dani is a Counter Terrorist Specialist Firearms Officer with the Metropolitan Police Service. Specifically she works in the Counter Terrorism Command (also known as SO15). She’s not a workaholic like some, but she thoroughly enjoys her work. ✔️ Magic - This is her cheat code to make her life way easier. It’s literally like being a superhero. ✔️ Whiskey - While she doesn’t drink much or all that often, some of her friends and coworkers drag her out to bars often enough. If she has to drink, then she might as well drink something enjoyable. ✔️ Country Roads - While life in London is lovely and all, the business of urban life can get tedious. There’s nothing quite like a good drive at an unsafe speed through the twisty country roads to put a smile back on Dani’s face. ✔️ Coffee and Donuts - Anyone who doesn’t like this is a bloody liar. Okay, maybe lots of people in Britain prefer tea, but coffee gets the job done better.
| [attr="class","paracontenthalfnoborder"] 🚫 Pagers - She doesn’t mind carrying one, she just hates when it goes off. When you’re one of less than a hundred people in London trained to deal with armed terrorists, you don’t want to get paged. 🚫 Traffic - You know a great way to ruin everything? Traffic. It can make you late to work. It can be your work if you fuck something up. They cause smog. There’s nothing to like about traffic. 🚫 Court - The worst part of her job is having to go to court. Thankfully the transfer to the CTC greatly reduced her time spent in court, but she still has to testify from time to time. Can’t they just read her reports? 🚫 Cameras - You’d think a cop might be all in favor of the growing presence of Big Brother, but Dani hates the idea of a surveillance state. She’s vaguely okay with monitoring the internet and phones, but monitoring cameras placed everywhere is way too far in her eyes. 🚫 Chavs - Does this even need to be explained? These people are a needless burden on an otherwise great empire. Even with the social services that the government offers and the rise of technology there are still those that Dani sees as just too lazy to get a proper job.

[attr="class","subheaderbghalf"] [attr="class","subheader"]//Habits | [attr="class","subheaderbghalf"] [attr="class","subheader"]//Flaws | [attr="class","paracontenthalfnoborder"] ♾️ Pocket Check - Know the little tap tap tap of wallet, keys, phone? Dani isn’t a big fan of purses as they are rather impractical on the job. Her outfits tend to be pocket or pouch heavy and she ends up making sure she’s not forgetting something fairly often. ♾️ Cleaning - Dani’s obsession with cleaning leads some to believe she might have OCD. She doesn’t and those people are drama queens, but she still keeps most everything in her life neat and tidy. ♾️ Gun Maintenance - Being allowed to carry proper firearms isn’t common in the UK, especially outside of Northern Ireland, so Dani constantly ensures hers are fit for duty. Not like she can just pop into the local Walmart and grab a new glock if she needs one. ♾️ Procedures - Aside from the use of magic, Dani is very much a by the books cop. She writes her reports up, uses book standard maneuvers, and has a checklist for everything.
| [attr="class","paracontenthalfnoborder"] ❌ Not book smart - I mean, yeah, she can read and stuff, but Dani is much more of a practical applications person than a theory person. She doesn’t really read unless she has to. ❌ Kicked out of mages association - How do you get kicked out of that place while also being incredibly talented and from a good bloodline? Easy. Use guns. They really didn’t like her ideas. ❌ Not creative - While Dani is a decent problem solver, she isn’t exactly creative. She has one tool for most problems, but if she doesn’t have a predetermined tool for a situation she will likely take longer than others to find a good solution. Don’t expect her to invent any new spells either.

[attr="class","paracontentfull"]Some folks have a rather remarkable life that they've lived in their time on the Earth. That isn't really the case for Danielle Bishop. Her childhood was fairly plain. She grew up in the urban jungle of London with both of her parents. Her father was a lawyer. Her mother worked a clerical position in that same law firm. They had wanted a son, who they would have named Daniel. They had her instead, but were still dead set on the name, so Danielle was born.
Of course that is where the boring parts end. While Dani's parents did need normal jobs to be able to afford living in London, that wasn't their greater calling. The Bishop bloodline was a magical one. From the moment she was born Dani had mana coursing through the magical circuits in her body. Now, all that said, she was no special prodigy or anything. The Bishops were a respectable enough family, but nothing especially well known. Still, everyone wants to be friends with a lawyer, and that made her father John rather popular at the Mage's Association. A good part of his money was made by defending members of the association.
Dani was trained from a young age in the art of Magecraft. While her parents were both rather good on the theory side, they had relatively few magic circuits and couldn't actually cast all that well. Dani was the mirror opposite. She had a knack for casting spells and plenty of magic circuits but very little appreciation for the reason why she could do it all. All that mattered to her in that area was results. That said, her results were hard to argue with. She never really developed much of a specialty in those years, but she was able to master quite a few spells at a pace greater than her parents expected of her.
Eventually she made her way to the Clock Tower and studied Magecraft more formally as her full time pursuit. She made a bit of a mistake after several years there though. You see, most magi are snobby and old fashioned, especially the more powerful ones. The spells that came most naturally, and seemed to be her specialty, involved fusing magecraft with technology. Why bother to send a message with mana when you could just call someone on the phone or use e-mail? Why use divination when you can plant a camera? Why cast a fireball when you can use a gun? WHAT IF THE GUN COULD SHOOT FIREBALLS!?
She found herself ostracized from that world for her ideas that were too far ahead of their time. She wasn't technically kicked out, but it was clear she was no longer welcome at the Clock Tower. Having mastered quite a bit of Magecraft, she considered what her talents could be used for and eventually settled on law enforcement. With the aid of her supernatural talents she was able to rise through the ranks relatively quickly. She was good at her job. Better than almost anyone before her. This was because of the magecraft of course, but her superiors had her tagged as an exceptional officer within her first few years of service.
After half a dozen years of service she ended up in the Counter Terrorism Command where her abilities were really allowed to shine. Her role there grants her a great deal more freedom than a normal role. She qualified for special dispensation to use and carry all sorts of firearms. Putting her skill in magecraft together with her generally solid physical fitness and firearms training has made her quite a force to be reckoned with.
And then the Infinite Grail War happened. CTC considers Servants to be terrorists. As the only one in the CTC with any knowledge of magecraft, Dani forged an alliance between London's police services and the Clock Tower. Now that the Mage's Association was out in the light they had nothing to lose from the alliance, but it certainly put Dani in a one of a kind position. She now serves as a member of both factions. At the end of the day she answers to the state, but she acts as an ambassador from one faction to the other in both directions. Thankfully they mostly agree that fixing this mess is what matters, and her primary duty is thus to keep the streets safe, but there's one little problem with that: she isn't stronger than many Servants. Oh well. Who said being a cop was easy?

[attr="class","paracontentfull"]How do you fight if you're not a normal human, but everyone thinks you are one? That question was the genesis of how Danielle Bishop fights. She's not especially smart, so she couldn't be analytical. She's not all that good at martial arts, so she couldn't win most fights with pure skill. Against normal threats she tends to just use the easy answer: a gun. Really it's mystery why more Magi don't use them. Sure, you don't get to show off your awesome magecraft, but they kill someone just as fast, if not faster. Her time in the police has made Dani more than capable with all manners of firearms.
Those guns are where the real secret comes in though. In real life when you shoot someone they don't explode. That should be pretty obvious, but Hollywood has made people believe otherwise. Dani's signature move is a very underwhelming one in terms of raw power by itself, but the subtlety it provides is what she needed. Her signature move is to enchant her bullets to deliver spells when they make contact with something. It's an ability she's refined over the years that lets her get away with the act of her shooting looking totally normal. It's the bad guy getting shot that doesn't look normal. Depending on the specific spell she uses, it most often just looks like she's fired an incendiary round or just so happened to shoot a grenade or bomb they were holding.
Of course that ability isn't perfect, and it can definitely raise some questions. That's where one of her skills comes into play. Information Erasure is her natural talent to be forgettable when she wants to be. She knows the angles that cameras will be at and always winds up in their blind spots. Well, that's what most people think anyway. Truth is she just doesn't show up on film if she doesn't want to. When she uses lethal force no one can remember what happened or if she was even there. While a more evil person would use this to commit all sorts of crimes, Dani just uses this to let her get away with people not knowing she's a magus.
Real shame that the whole war happened and that cat's out of the bag now... but it's only her superior officers who know that. As far as most people are concerned she just has a knack for shooting explosive vests in just the right way.
