[attr="class","sectionheaderbg"] [attr="class","sectionheader"]//Mystic Codes (AR) [attr="class","paracontentfull"]Items come in two varieties, mundane and magical. Mundane Items are anything without any magical effect. These include, but are not limited to, things like basic weapons, armor, clothing, or the tools on batman's belt. You can carry as many Mundane Items as your character can actually physically carry, but if you're planning to haul around 100 gadgets then you better have a costume with 100 pockets. The interesting part, for most, is magical items. These are also known as a Mystic Code. There are two types of Mystic Codes: Amplifier and Specialized, though some that do not fit these categories also exist. Amplifier types are simple and just allow for the storage or amplification of mana to strengthen magecraft. Specialized Mystic Codes are akin to enchantments in many other systems. The item is able to hold an effect akin to magecraft or a technique and its power operates on the same point system as Noble Phantasms, but it draws from its own pool of points. This is because most object-based Noble Phantasms are essentially specialized Mystic Codes. Just to be explicit, the use of magical items still consumes mana, but is completely independent of your Noble Phantasm stat. The key difference is between a Mystic Code and a Noble Phantasm is that Mystic Codes only get a maximum of 5 points to spend on abilities and are limited to at single magical effect no matter what. Items cost one rank of Golden Rule per point they have, and require appropriate ranks of the Item Creation perk to create. Mundane, non-magical items cost one rank of Golden Rule to create. One of the important things to know about Mystic Codes is that most Magi can only support a single one without ill effect. For each additional Mystic Code they have on their person, it saps away at any mana leaving their body, such as when they are trying to send mana to a servant or casting a spell. For each additional Mystic Code on an individual the mana cost of ANYTHING other than powering their Mystic Codes is increased by 25%. This can be negated by taking ranks in Mystic Code Affinity... or just dropping them in a pile at their house or on the ground. As long as the item is on your person, this penalty is applied.
