[attr="class","sectionheaderbg"] [attr="class","sectionheader"]//About Magi [attr="class","paracontentfull"]Magi are otherwise normal humans who can utilize the power flowing through their magic circuits to cast spells. In all ways other than this power, they are normal on a biological level. Their age must be one that a normal human could live to without an exceptional backstory that explains why their age exceeds that of a normal human. Additionally, the identity of a human must be unique and original. You can use a face claim, but the actual character cannot be canon to Type Moon or any other existing intellectual property. This means no Shirou, no Rin, and no Batman as magi on this site. Magi are the objectively weaker of two character types in this setting. In terms of raw power, they are objectively more limited than Servants are. Where Magi make up for that is in terms of their versatility. While most servants have typically eschewed the use of Magecraft, or at best typically specialized down into a few forms, that is what a Magi specializes in. Their arsenal tends to be much wider than that of a Heroic Spirit. It’s very much the case that Magi are a Jack of All Trades where Heroic Spirits are a Master of One. While the most powerful Magi can overpower some of the weakest Servants in terms of raw power, the upper limits of a Servant’s power eclipses the power of a magus with very few exceptions. [attr="class","subheaderbgfull"] [attr="class","subheader"]//Summoning [attr="class","paracontentfull"]The biggest advantage that a Magus has compared to a Servant… is that a Magus can summon a Servant. Though the exact process can vary from one summoning to the next, only a Magus can summon a Heroic Spirit under normal circumstances. Exceptions exist in terms of Counter Guardians and those spirits summoned purely by shards of the Grail, but the vast majority of Heroic Spirits are summoned as Servants by a Magus Master. Barring special exceptions, a Magus cannot summon a Servant if they already have one. [attr="class","subheaderbgfull"] [attr="class","subheader"]//Mana Transfer (AR) [attr="class","paracontentfull"]First and foremost, while the canon does have some X-Rated methods of transferring mana between Master and Servant, those scenes absolutely must be faded to black as they violate Proboards’ terms of service. Additionally, consent is 100% mandatory. No exceptions. Failure to obtain consent before writing that into a scene is grounds for severe punishment, up to and including a permanent ban from the forum with no warning. If such a method genuinely makes your story better, then go for it with a fade to black, but it will NOT offer any mechanical benefit. Mana Transfers are a free ability for any Master. At most any time, they can transfer their mana to their servant. This is most effective while in direct physical contact with their servant, but even then they cannot exceed their Servant’s mana capacity. There are diminishing returns based on a Master’s distance from their Servant. Below are the various rates of mana transfer.
[attr="class","subheaderbgfull"] [attr="class","subheader"]//Command Spells (AR) [attr="class","paracontentfull"]Command Spells are the ultimate ability of a Magus to rule over their Servants. Upon creation a Magi has three Command Spells at their disposal that typically appear as a red tattoo on their hand. Command Spells are the ability to give an undeniable order to your servant, even if that order is normally impossible. This ability to create a miracle that surpasses Magecraft makes a single Command Spell more useful than almost anything else. As such, restoring a Command Spell is no small feat. Doing so is only possible by sacrificing 5 grail shards on that single wish for one more Command Spell. If a master ever runs out of Command Spells then they are unable to maintain a contact with a Servant. These are some example uses of command spells that have specific mechanics or rules. Kill yourself: This order can only be used with the consent of the Servant. As with any other cause of death, it must be agreed to by all parties. Return to my side: This is instantaneous teleportation to the side of the master. This surpasses time, space, and dimensions. Nothing can prevent this. Return to peak condition: Heals all wounds on the servant and restores their mana to full capacity. |
