[attr="class","paracontentfull"]For the sake of either lore accuracy or balance of the site, there are several types of abilities that cannot be used. These include True Magic in all forms as well as other horribly broken abilities. The only reason that these may be utilized by anyone, staff included, is as part of a plot arc for an NPC. There must be SIGNIFICANT build-up and justification for the use of anything on this list, and any NPCs using these abilities must be approved by staff. If staff is using it, it must be approved by other staff. Below is the list of what is banned and why.
[attr="class","subheaderbgfull"] [attr="class","subheader"]//Banned Outright
- The First Magic - Primarily due to a lack of information on how it functions.
- The Second Magic - Parallel Dimensions has waaaaaaay too many get out of jail free cards. Citation: D4C from JoJo.
- The Third Magic - Do I need to explain why immortality is OP? A perfected form of The Third Magic is right out, since the souls it can create have infinite magical energy, infinite longevity, and can interact with the material world. It doesn't have negatives. Things that use concepts from The Third Magic are fine, so long as their outcome is far more limited than the perfect transcendent entities that a completed Third Magic can create.
- The Fourth Magic - Too little information is available on it.
- The Fifth Magic - Time Travel, and all things related to it, simply messes up far too much of the story for everyone else, and has way too many broken possibilities in battle.
- Immortality and Invincibility - Should be obvious enough. Should be noted that this refers to negging damage or wounds entirely. Things that function akin to reincarnation rather than being unkillable are high scrutiny instead, typically requiring a large time delay or outside intervention.
- The word "infinite" - Everything needs a limit. If we see the word infinite anywhere, we will ask you to remove it.
[attr="class","subheaderbgfull"] [attr="class","subheader"]//Heavily Scrutinized for Balance
- Time Manipulation - (such as Time Alter) is not banned, but is heavily restricted and must be designed in a way that is not a free win. Kiritsugu didn't stomp Kirei just because of that spell after all. This should generally be represented as something like a Stat Up SPD or improved reaction times.
- Illusions - Aizen only lost because of plot. All illusions must have a way to see through them written into the spell itself. They must be counter-able through both the use of skills or simply through solid combat writing. They can still provide a substantial combat advantage though. Things like when Sasuke made Danzo think he had one more Sharingan left would be acceptable, but Tsukuyomi would not pass.
- Anti-Magic Fields - These are heavily restricted, but not outright banned. The biggest thing is that these MUST be universal in effect, and MUST be able to be overpowered. These must effect everyone within them equally, and significantly powerful effects, such as Rank EX Magecraft or the activation of a Noble Phantasm will surpass these effects.
- Teleportation - This cannot be a get out of jail free card. It can exist, but it must have a significant cost.
- Resurrection - This is generally not possible. Necromancy can revive a body or mind, but not a soul. For something like this to pass, it would have to come with a LOT of restrictions.
- Autohits of any kind - Generally these are very hard to pass on offensive spells, but are fine on buffing/healing spells.
- Telekinesis - Is very hard to do without being an autohit. With proper restrictions this can pass, such as only being able to use telekinesis on non-living objects.
